Giving Tuesday: Canvas Gives Gold Star Families Proceeds From "Race"

As part of the Community Foundation of Greater Huntsville’s Corporate Giving Network, Canvas granted Semper Fi Community Task Force of North Alabama a donation of $13,500 for Gold Star Families on Giving Tuesday 2020.

The donation, a part of the collective $1.6M the Community Foundation gave on behalf of nine Huntsville companies, is from Canvas’ annual 0.5k fundraising event that supports Gold Star Families.

“While the race may be a satire, our cause isn’t,” says Erin Bloxham Curtis, Marketing Director and Outreach Coordinator for Canvas. “Gold Star Families have lost an immediate family member while serving in the line of duty during military service. Canvas is proud to spearhead this event and support our North Alabama Gold Star Families.”

For the past two years, Canvas has proudly partnered with the Mojo Radio Show and 104.3 WZYP to put on the most epic 0.5k race Huntsville has ever seen. Due to COVID restrictions, Canvas wasn’t able to physically host the event this year. As a result, the donation of $13,500 represents 238 registered “runners” and 12 corporate sponsors who feel just as strongly about supporting our Gold Star Families as Canvas does. These companies include: i3 Cares, Torch Technologies, IronMountain Solutions, ERC, Inc., Intrepid, Conditioned Air Solutions, CFD Research Corporation, FirstBank, Quadrus Corporation, IBERIABANK, PeopleTec, Inc., and Redstone Federal Credit Union.
