Canvas Wins Big At Small Business Award

In an area with over 20,000 small businesses, Canvas has been named Government Contracting Technology Business of the Year and Woman-Owned Small Business of the Year by the Huntsville/Madison Chamber of Commerce.

“For the past 33 years, the Small Business Awards have honored the work of small businesses like Canvas,” explained Pammie Jimmar, Vice President of Small Business & Events for the Huntsville/Madison County Chamber of Commerce. “Each year the competition for the Awards gets steeper and steeper, but it’s our opportunity to recognize the impact small businesses have on our economy. This year, Canvas was one of 650 nominations and the first company to receive awards in two categories.”

Canvas, a chamber member since 2009 with over 100 employees in seven locations, is a Woman-Owned Small Business (WOSB) government contracting company specializing in providing systems engineering and test and evaluation for missile systems. Canvas supports a diverse group of customers to include the Missile Defense Agency (MDA), Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), U.S. Army Space and Missile Defense Command (USASMDC), the U.S. Army Aviation and Missile Life Cycle Command (AMCOM), the U.S. Navy, the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), and other Federal Agencies.

“In such a competitive market, we are honored to receive these awards,” stated Jami Peyton, CEO of Canvas.“These awards celebrate the hard work and daily wins of every single employee that has worked for Canvas. We truly believe that providing a valuable service or product begins with creating an atmosphere where employees are genuinely happy and excited about what they do.”
