Canvas is pleased to announce four Huntsville nonprofits have been awarded over $12,000 in funding to support programs focused on improving the lives of children.
“These funding awards represent contributions from both our employee giving fund and our corporate outreach fund,” explains Jami Peyton, Canvas CEO. “We believe in empowering our employees to guide philanthropic decisions on behalf of Canvas. Collectively, these funds represent causes that are near and dear to our employees.”
Canvas Employee Giving Fund, Be The Good: 13 grant requests totaling more than $133,000 in funding requests were received for the December Grant Cycle. We are pleased to announce our employees voted to fully fund two of those requests for a total of $9,000.
Sleep In Heavenly Peace, Hartselle, AL Chapter received $4,000 for their program, “No Kid Sleeps on the Floor in Our Town”. Be The Good Funds will purchase lumber and hardware to build 20 beds. The bed frames are outfitted with a mattress in addition to bedding (sheets, pillows, and blankets) for children in need throughout Limestone, Madison, Marshall, and Morgan counties.
Kids to Love Foundation received $5,000 for Camp Hope, an overnight weekend reunification event at the Kids to Love’s 48-acre mountain property in Fayetteville, Tennessee. Be The Good funds will allow siblings, who have been separated by the Foster Care System, to be reunited. While there, siblings have plenty of room to play, have fun, and just be kids.
Corporate Giving, Canvas Community Outreach Fund: In addition to our employee giving, our corporate outreach provided funding for two organizations totaling $3,100.
Ryker’s Rainbow received $2,100 to support grieving and bereaved families who suffer the loss of a newborn or infant at Huntsville Hospital. Canvas sponsored seven families to ensure they receive birth photos from a specialized bereavement photographer, an illustrated easy to read book on grief, and a special memorial plate in honor of their child.
Huntsville Hospital Foundation’s Miracle Bash and Swim for Melissa Event received $1,000 to raise funds to provide lifesaving equipment for infants in the Huntsville Hospital for Women & Children Regional Level III Neonatal ICU.
