Welcome to Winter
Published: Monday, 10 February 2014 11:46
We are a month into the New Year and already have some great news to share on our company's progress. First, welcome to our new website! We've been working with a web developer and graphic designer for the past few months to freshen up our corporate look and incorporate into the Canvas website. We are also working on a database, which will soon be available through the Employee Portal on the site to capture important information about each employees task. We are very excited about this new tool and will be rolling out these new features in the second quarter. Additionally, Colby Owens accepted the responsibility to lead our Charity Committee for the 2014-2015 term. The first meeting proved to be a success with new members and ideas that we will implement this year. We have also hired several new student interns this month who are helping at the Corporate Office with several administrative and engineering tasks. They have been a great addition to the corporate staff, and we are excited to get to know them over the coming year.
Finally, we want to recognize several employees for continuing to impress us and their customers by their level of work and recent successes. Kudos go out to Jimmie O'Neal and Sondra Roper for being recognized in the MDA Director's Update for their contributions to the U.S.-Israeli Cooperative Program's David's Sling Weapon System (DSWS) in November, in which DST-2 at the southern Israel test range demonstrated for the first time the DSWS radar, Battle Management Center, launcher, ground data link, and Stunner interceptor's integrated performance leading to successful intercept. Jimmie O'Neal was also awarded the Air, Space, and Missile Defense Association (ASMDA) 2013 Technical Achievement Award for Lead Contractor supporting the FTO-01 System Mission Manager (SMM) Team, Flight Test (MDA/DTF) on January 7th (pictured above).
Kudos also go to Larry Skipper and Emily Rogers for completing a project entitled "MPTk" on January 31st. Since April 2013, their team has been integrating three different tools to create this dynamic toolkit that will assist the joint medical planning community in providing end-to-end solution for medical support planning across the range of military operations from combat to humanitarian assistance. Andrew Brigham also deserves kudos for receiving recognition for consistently providing superior technical support to the Exoatmospheric Kill Vehicle (EKV) Hardware In the Loop (HWIL) Test Team during the 10V 13-2. Finally, kudos to Chris Erickson and Sarah Thompson for receiving letters of appreciation from their customers for outstanding performance.

Recent Success at Canvas
Published: Monday, 16 December 2013 14:24
Canvas is celebrating some recent successes that have spurred company growth and maintained our reputation for excellent customer support. First, Canvas would like to acknowledge Mike Peyton and Chris Erickson for their key efforts in helping our prime win the award for MDA Ground Test. We will soon be adding two new employees under this new task order. Second, our MDA Flight Test team should be recognized for their support of MDA Flight Test Operational-01 (FTO-01), which was MDA's most complex operational test to date, conducted at the Reagan Test Site at the U.S. Army Kwajalein Atoll and Wake Island in the central Pacific. This test demonstrated integrated, layered, regional missile defense capabilities to defeat a raid of two threat-representative medium-range ballistic missiles in a historic combined life-fire operational test utilizing Aegis and THAAD.
Canvas employees who supported this effort were David Latham and Jimmie O'Neal, who were both deployed for several months this summer, as well as Brad Baty and Sondra Roper. Finally, Chris Goff and Michael Wasner have supported MDA in finalizing design for Aegis Ashore Missile Defense Facilities (AAMDF) and achieving Building Occupancy Date (BOD) for Aegis Ashore Missile Defense Test Complex (AAMDTC) at the Pacific Missile Firing Range (PMRF) â?? two very significant milestones for MDA. Canvas congratulates each of these employees for their outstanding customer support and hard work to achieve these accomplishments!
In addition to recent contract and proposal successes, Canvas is also celebrating our newest employees. Over the last few months, we've brought on additional support for a few of our contracts, and we are very excited to get to know these employees in the coming year. Jason Anderson and Cody Nix have recently joined us to support the Prototype Integration Facility (PIF). Ralph Schweers has joined the MDA C3BM group and also provides support to the External Sensors Lab, and our newest employee is Wayne Hunt, who joins us in Alaska to support the MDA Warfighter group. We wish these guys a warm welcome to Canvas! Is there such thing as a warm welcome in Alaska, Wayne.
This fall marks 6 years of Canvas being in business, which means that we now have two employees who have crossed the 5-year mark! Dave Wild and Mike Peyton were recognized at our quarterly breakfast in October for 5 years of dedication and excellent work at Canvas! They were awarded with several different packages to choose from - golf clubs, a trip to New York City, or a Bose Entertainment System. Not so surprisingly, Dave and Mike have already purchased their new golf clubs! Congratulations to these two Canvas leaders for spearheading the way into Canvas' future!
If you missed the quarterly breakfast, you also missed the announcement of several upcoming events for the Fall and Winter seasons. Please see page 4 of this newsletter to mark your calendar for these awesome events. We'd also like to mention that Canvas is excited about our participation in the Earlyworks Museum's Veterans Mural, which is going to be shown for the first time in downtown Huntsville on Veteran's Day. It will remain downtown for at least 1 year. Canvas has several veterans whom we've submitted pictures for to participate. Canvas will also be riding on our float during the Veteran's Day parade this year! We will be especially mindful of and thankful for our Canvas Veterans: Bob Feigenblatt, Sean Cusker, Wayne Hunt, Arnel Libarios, Ralph Schweers, Jim O'Neal, Chris Erickson, Bob Thornton, Michael Galbraith, Bill Audenaert, Tom Ryan, David Latham, Tom Kahlert, and Dave Wild. Thank you all for your service!
